Now here is a sweet sale — the Tennessee Cheesecake Company's annual Dock Sale with half price cheesecakes and more at the bakery's Mt. Juliet dock.

The family owned and operated company, which sells its cheesecakes primarily to the restaurant industry, has two days each year when it throws open the dock doors to offer great deals — 40-70 percent off retail — on all sorts and sizes of their cheesecakes.

Not long after I moved to West Nashville 10 years ago, I noticed intriguing sign along I-40 West between 46th and White Bridge Road. “Tennessee Cheesecake,” it spelled in black-and-white on the side of a green building just south of Charlotte Avenue. I wondered to myself, “Do they sell cheesecake there? Or is it some type of cheeky burlesque club?” (At the time, there was still some gentrification left to be made along that strip of Charlotte separating Sylvan Park and The Nations.)

Years passed and I never checked it out. It didn’t really look like anything was going on inside. And then one day, I noticed the sign was gone and I was sad that I’d never taken the time to figure out just what Tennessee Cheesecake was all about.

As it turns out, Tennessee Cheesecake makes and sells cheesecakes.
